We were proud and delighted to read that Martin Dyer, one of our DMUK mentors has been recently been awarded Life membership of the BDA.
This honours long and valuable service to the BDA and the dental profession. Life membership is awarded to a very small number of dentists who have made a substantial contribution to the dental profession, which is mirrored in Martin’s dedication to supporting colleagues through his mentoring activities for a consideredble number of colleagues over many years.
The BDA website says that Martin Dyer is a GDP, honoured for his long service to the BDA at a local level, being involved with the Middlesex and Herts Branch for many years representing his colleagues.
We asked Martin to comment on his honour and he said
'I was very flattered to receive the news that I am to receive an award of Life membership of the BDA. It was a surprise that I was not expecting. I have always been committed to the Association and enjoyed assisting other GDPs in my various capacities. Through my work with the BDA, local LDC and HEE I have made a good number of colleagues that I know will be friends for my lifetime. Dentistry is provided by a small but highly dedicated community, and we have to stay active to make our voice heard at all at higher political levels. I now very much look forward to seeing some old friends at the Honours and Awards day at the BDA in April.'
